Building Pathways to Healthier, More Stable Lives

A proven leader in helping individuals and families affected by problem gambling, the Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling (LACG) has developed innovative programs over the past three decades to address the complex challenges associated with gambling-related harm.

The result is a comprehensive treatment model informed by best practices in addiction and behavioral health care, offering a continuum of services ranging from outpatient counseling to residential treatment. The need for treatment availability in Louisiana is supported by the facts:

Two million (1%) U.S. adults are estimated to meet the criteria for gambling disorder each year.  Another 4 million to 6 million (2% to 3%) would be considered problem gamblers; that is, they do not meet the full diagnostic criteria for gambling disorder but meet one or more of the criteria and are experiencing problems due to their gambling behavior.  Research also indicates that most adults who gamble can do so responsibly.
